AliveColors provides a wide range of possibilities for creating images, illustrations, and other graphics.
In addition to retouching and painting brushes, the program offers Shape Tools that let you create and edit vector shapes.

The basic tool settings are shown in the Tool Options panel above the Image Window. To display the full list of parameters, press the tool icon in the Tool Options panel, or use the F5-key.
General parameters of shape tools (may vary for different tools):
Mode. In the drop-down list, select what the tool will create:
Shape. Shapes are created on a separate shape layer, designated .
Path. Paths are displayed in the Paths panel. A path can contain multiple subpaths (components).
Pixels. A shape filled with the foreground color will be drawn on the active raster layer.
Fill. Click the color plate in the Options Panel to open a dialog box where you can select a fill type. Fill options are also available in the Fill tab in the full tool options panel (F5) or by clicking the icon to the right of the name of the selected vector layer.
Stroke. Click the color plate in the Options Panel to bring up a dialog box where you can select the outline color. The outline options are also available in the Stroke tab in the full tool options panel (F5) or by clicking the icon to the right of the name of the selected vector layer.
In the Path mode is, you can make a Selection, Mask, or Shape from the path by pressing one of the buttons.
In the Pixels mode, you can change the blend method and the opacity of the shape:
Blend Mode. Choose how to blend the fill color pixels with the active layer pixels. Learn more about the blend modes.
Opacity (0-100). Set the transparency of the fill color.
- New (Each new shape is created on a separate layer.)
- Add (A new component is added to the existing ones.)
- Subtract (A new component is excluded from the existing ones.)
- Intersect (Only the overlapping area of the components is displayed.)
Note: All operations except the first one (New Layer) work with components of a single path.
Order. Change the order of the components:
- Bring to Front
- Bring Forward
- Send Backward
- Send to Back
Alignment of multiple selected components relative to each other:
- Align Top Edges
- Align Vertical Centers
- Align Bottom Edges
- Align Left Edges
- Align Horizontal Centers
- Align Right Edges
Transformation parameters will become unavailable when changing the shape:
Using the Width and Height parameters, you can change the size of the shape.
Using the X and Y parameters, you can adjust the position of the shape on the canvas. Changing the X parameter will shift horizontally, Y - vertically.
The Rotation parameter allows you to rotate the shape.
The Flip Horizontal and Flip Vertical buttons allow you to flip the shape horizontally or vertically.
Also, you can transform a path using transformation commands (Edit -> Transform and Free Transform).
