Here is the December update of the AliveColors graphics editor!
Version 9.8 offers the new Exposure adjustment and the new Dark Strokes effect, improvements of the Refine Edges selection feature and some enhancements in the selection tools, support for the TGA format, improved stability and performance, and many fixes. Download the recent version!
Exposure Adjustment
The new Exposure adjustment allows you to change the amount of light in the image, making the overall picture brighter or darker. It's also available as an adjustment layer.
Dark Strokes Effect
The new Dark Strokes effect, in the Brush Strokes menu, creates a visual accent by painting dark areas of an image with black strokes, and lighter areas with light strokes.
Improved Selection Features
The update brings further improvements to the selection features of AliveColors:
- Improved the Refine Edge selection feature.
- Improved performance of selection modification commands.
- Added Similar command to the Select menu.
- Improved the Add, Subtract, Intersect modes in the selection tools.
Other Improvements
- Added support for the TGA format. TGA (abbreviates as "Truevision Graphics Adapter", also known as TARGA) is a raster graphics file format for images that supports high color and transparency.
- Added calculation by a given working size for the built-in Points plugin (Processing Size Limit in the Preferences).
- Added minor interface improvements.
Bug Fixes
The new version offers the improved stability and performance, as well as many fixes:
- Fixed an error with fonts in the PSD format on Mac and Linux systems;
- Fixed an error in the Page Curl effect on layers with transparency;
- Fixed errors in the Match Color adjustment;
- Fixed a calculation error when changing the visible area in the Replace Color adjustment;
- Fixed an error that caused the program to crash when running the Refine Edges feature on a non-raster layer;
- Fixed errors of displaying the mask when using the Refine Edges feature;
- Fixed an error that caused the program to crash when adding an adjustment layer with the active Gradient Fill tool and a layer mask;
- Fixed an error when overlaying a gradient after resizing the document;
- Fixed an error of scaling layer group mask when changing document size;
- Fixed an error of calculating preview in the built-in Points plugin.
